The entries for the 2020 Grand National will not be announced until next year. But one can safely assume that if Tiger Roll is deemed eligible to race by his owner, then he will once again be the main favourite.
Tiger Roll won two consecutive Grand Nationals and he is the first winner to have done that since Red Rum back in the 1970s. These back-to-back wins are a testament to the quality that Tiger Roll currently possesses and if he goes again in the 2020 Grand National, punters should definitely consider backing him.
Clear Favourite with Bookmakers
This is because his 2019 victory was even more convincing than his 2018 Aintree win. If he runs in 2020, he might even improve on this year’s achievement. He won by three lengths ahead of Magic of Light and Rathvinden this April and had a much easier win compared to 2018.
And if this is not enough to convince punters to back Tiger Roll to win at the Grand National next year, bookmakers have some exciting promotions that punters should definitely consider. They come in the form of insured bets that betting enthusiasts will want to take advantage of.
For example, the exclusive Genting Bet offer at thebookiesoffers.co.uk gives punters insurance on their FIRST SETTLED bet of £10 or more. There are significant terms and conditions and the offer will run until 31st December 2019. Bear in mind that the 2020 Grand National is still a long way off but if you want to take advantage of the longer odds currently on offer, this is one way to play it safer.
Tiger Roll is currently around odds of 8/1, which for the Grand National isn’t great, however, it is significantly better than the odds of 4/1 that he went off on earlier this year. This is because the entries for the Grand National are not announced yet and there is still some doubt whether Tiger Roll will participate in it or not.
But Will the Crowd Favourite Participate?
This year’s Grand National saw a large increase in viewing figures compared to previous years and this was in large part due to Tiger Roll’s popularity. The diminutive horse doesn’t look like much of a threat physically. However, seeing him out running and jumping at Aintree was a reminder as to why the back-to-back winner is so loved by horse racing fans. His small stature makes his victories seem more unbelievable and improbable than they actually are and this is something that neutrals love.
However, there is a big question mark on whether Tiger Roll will make another National appearance. His owner, Michael O’Leary, claimed in the aftermath of Tiger Roll’s historic Aintree success that the horse was not going to take part in the 2020 renewal of the event.
O’Leary has always been talking about his horse’s lack of stature and considering that he will be up in the weights next year, he feels that his horse will be too heavily weighted and that’s not something that he wants to see. This would mean that Tiger Roll will not be able to win the Grand National three times like Red Rum, but for his owner that was never the goal.
He has stated that a return to the Cheltenham Festival is definitely on the cards, but the Grand National will depend entirely on the BHA Handicapper. For now, all options are on the table.
