The Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, held each October at ParisLongchamp, is universally celebrated as Europe’s richest and most prestigious flat race.

Bringing together the best middle-distance entries from Europe and Japan, the Arc serves as the sport’s ultimate test.

With a €5 million purse on the line, the 2025 renewal promises to be one of the deepest and most competitive in recent memory, with top fillies, established older horses, and international raiders in the mix.

Entry Process and Final Runners

This year, the entry stage saw an impressive 78 horses put forward for a place in the world’s greatest turf race.

From those, connections had to navigate several rounds of confirmations, supplementary entries, and scratchings.

By Thursday, the final field was whittled down to 17 runners, one fewer than planned, after Estrange was withdrawn.

Horses were then drawn into stalls live in Paris, a process that typically plays a decisive role in betting odds and tactical approaches.

So with all of the entries now declared for the race, let’s take a look at those who are vying for Europe’s biggest prize on Sunday.

Minnie Hauk – Stall 1

minnie hauk

Aidan O’Brien’s star filly, drawn perfectly on the rail, arrives unbeaten after dominant Oaks victories at Epsom, Yorkshire, and in Ireland.

Her tactical speed, proven stamina, and Soumillon’s expert handling make her a leading contender.

The stall adds to her advantage if she breaks well and finds early cover.

Daryz – Stall 2

Reliable and progressive, Daryz lands a plum draw for his front-running style.

With Group placings and the ability to stay on in big fields, he’s likely to be close up throughout and could spring a surprise if the pace unfolds favourably.

Sosie – Stall 3

Fabre’s bay colt, a proven Group 1 performer, returns after a strong Arc run last year and is drawn to save ground.

He excels with a late surge and is expected to be in the mix, benefiting from Pasquier’s experience and a kind draw.

Alohi Alii – Stall 4

Japan’s lightweight challenger, Alohi Alii, has taken well to French conditions and secured a handy draw.

Christophe Lemaire will aim to keep him in touch and launch a bold challenge in the straight, and each-way punters have noted his autumn improvement.

Giavellotto – Stall 5

Tough and versatile, Giavellotto finds himself in a prime position to use his stamina.

With Atzeni on board and previous strong runs in England, he could grab a place if the leaders fade late on.

Leffard – Stall 6

Prominent tactics and a decent draw mean Leffard can go forward early.

Cristian Demuro is likely to angle for a front-running ride and try to pinch an advantageous spot. Each-way hopes rest on his ability to handle both ground and class.

Quisisana – Stall 7

Lightly raced and on an upward curve, Quisisana draws towards the favoured inner stalls.

She prefers softer going and will appreciate a stalking trip. Not without a chance to get into the frame if she continues progressing.

Cualificar – Stall 8

Royal Ascot

Buick’s mount has shown rapid improvement this season and now gets a midfield draw that suits late closers.

His Group trial form gives him a competitive look, especially if the race demands tactical patience and a strong finish.

White Birch – Stall 9

A capable Irish colt, White Birch needs plenty of luck in running, given his tendency to get blocked.

The draw allows McMonagle to ride patiently; a fast pace would be ideal for his late run and hold-up style.

Kalpana – Stall 10

British-trained Kalpana faces a trickier draw but brings reliable Group form and stamina.

Colin Keane will look to position her midfield, hoping she can unleash her acceleration at the right time if the leaders tire.

Hotazhell – Stall 11

A big outsider, Hotazhell hasn’t shown Group-winning ability yet, but stall 11 offers tactical flexibility.

If the race collapses up front, Foley might come from off the pace. Needs major improvement to feature.

Aventure – Stall 12

A proven winner over this course and distance, Aventure gets a tough double-digit draw but has Group 1 experience at Longchamp.

Guyon’s tactical skill will be crucial to overcome early challenges and give this filly a winning chance.

Gezora – Stall 13

Seasoned with tough French Group runs, Gezora’s late kick is her main strength.

Tom Marquand must work hard from a wide berth, but she’s well prepared if the pace is strong and gaps open late.

Los Angeles – Stall 14

Last year’s Arc third must overcome an outside draw, but if Wayne Lordan can get on the inside, he could be in luck.

He retains stamina and experience but will need the field to split favourably.

Byzantine Dream – Stall 15

Japan’s main hope this year, Byzantine Dream’s draw poses problems for Oisin Murphy.

If he settles and finds cover, his strong international form makes him dangerous in the closing stages.

Arrow Eagle – Stall 16

One of the biggest outsiders, Arrow Eagle lacks top-level form and gets a wide draw.

Mendizabal may drop him in, but will need chaos or an extremely fast pace to feature.

Croix Du Nord – Stall 17

japanese contenders

Japan Derby winner faces Longchamp’s toughest starting position.

Kitamura’s strategy will be key, and he’ll hope for luck, strong stamina, and the chance to swoop through tiring rivals.

Where They Stand In The Betting

The draw certainly favoured some entries more than others, and Minnie Hauk landing on the inside, in Stall 1, only solidified her claims.

Horses like Croix Du Nord, heavily backed before the draw, have seen their odds drift as stall 17 is notoriously difficult to win from – not impossible, but it does make the job a lot harder for jockey Yuichi Kitamura.

Of course, the odds will continue to fluctuate right up until the race begins, and in many cases will shorten on the favourites.
